We recently enrolled London in gymnastics! First, we attempted dance, which was a big fat fail. She just wasn't that interested in prancing around. Tumbling she could get on board with! The first few weeks were hard because it was the first class she had ever been a part of, so learning to follow directions, stay in line, and wait for her turn needed just as much practice as forward rolls and bear walks. Once she got that figured out, things went rather smoothly! She was a good listener and tried really hard!
When you are in the younger class, there is a lot of waiting your turn. :) They did a lot of fun activities, like learning to run and jump, forward roll, backward roll, the beginnings of handstands, and all kinds of fun stuff. London is very cautious, and one of the main reason why I wanted her to take a class to help her find her wings. I've noticed improvements in her everyday life like being able to step down a curb with confidence (she would always sit and scoot down before) and jump.
I think she is having a great time! Today was the last week of her session, and I think we will take a break this next session. Her class is 45 minutes, and usually by the last 10 minutes she wants to go home. Starting in January she can do the classes all by herself, so we may wait until then since now she is in parent class and its hard to figure out a time in our schedule where one of us can go with her.
I will miss seeing her in that cute little leotard!
