The Big Party!!!

The big event...Brooklyn's 1st birthday party! Let me first say this: I do not like throwing birthday parties, especially 1st ones. I do it because they are big days, but the child has NO clue what's going on. Basically it's more like a, "Please come and eat cake and celebrate the fact that we (the mother and father) have somehow managed to keep this child alive for at least a year" sort of party.
That is, until this one.
I had SO MUCH FUN planning this party! I went all out...it's my last first birthday party, right?! I made my own decorations. I made my own party cups. I made super fun cakes and ordered a special outfit for her and...well, you'll see.
And, secondly, major props to my friend Mary at Captured Photography for these amazing pictures! I am truly blessed to be surrounded by such talented people.

The decorations were really fun to do! For the drinks, I purchased mason jars that I filled with strawberry pink lemonade. I decorated the jars with rickrack and flowers, with coordinating paper on the lids. I had coordinating paper for people to glue their initials to the top of the jar so they wouldn't lose their drink. I ordered vintage paper straws to match our party colors (aqua, teal, and red), made tons of tissue paper balls and tulle balls that were strung from the ceiling, along with a custom ordered banner that said, "Happy Birthday Brooklyn". She had a beautiful bouquet of coral pink roses...because every girl deserves flowers on her birthday.

As for the food, we had quite a spread, but my favorite thing was the ice cream cone cupcakes I made! Very fun and really cute! I made homemade buttercream frosting to match the party colors and added edible pearls and red candy apples. I also made a chocolate triffle for the adult dessert, but I'm pretty sure everyone wanted the cupcakes! (Note to self: next time make more cupcake cones!)

Isn't this an amazing shot? It's Daddy handing me Brooklyn's cake. It speaks to my heart, and I love it.

She enjoyed it, too. She devoured practically the whole thing! She is my first to do that...both Jackson and London just sort of shoved it around and poked at it. Not Brooklyn...she went after it as though she had been planning her attack the whole year.
I seriously wouldn't doubt it.

She loved opening her presents! She was very blessed by all her friends and family! She got lots of new hairbows with super cute flower/ribbon holders to clip them to, a beautiful homemade paper flower "B" to hang in her room, lots of toys, cute outfits, and some cash to buy the musical table Mommy has her eye on for her. Luckily sharing is one of Brooklyn's good qualities, because with 15 kids (did I forget to mention that almost 45 people were at her party?) scrambling around her in the tissue paper and wrappings, her goodies were being opened before they even got to her!
It was beautiful chaos.

It truly was a wonderful day! We were surrounded by everyone who loved and treasured our Brookie Bear, and that meant so much to us. We have been truly blessed in all of our amazing friendships here, and I am so thankful for them all!

The next birthday party? London. I'm thinking fairies. Watch out, world!
